Full Feature Trailer for M. Night's THE LAST AIRBENDER
Here's the first feature trailer for M. Night Shyamalan's adaptation of The Last Airbender, which debuted over at Yahoo!.
In everything we've seen from the teaser and the Superbowl Spot, I've been impressed and often blown away by the visuals in the slo-mo action sequences and by the CG, and this trailer is no different in that aspect. What I am beginning to notice, is how much some of the set pieces look to so apparently on a sound stage. It loses a lot of the scope for me, and takes me out of the world a bit as well. But I'm definitely more pleased than worried, and looking I'm forward to seeing how M. Night takes on this kind of material (he certainly hasn't wowed us lately with his last couple of original efforts.)
Based off of the Nickelodeon's popular animated series, THE LAST AIRBENDER is set in a world where human civilization is divided into four nations: Water, Earth, Air and Fire. The Fire Nation is waging a ruthless, oppressive war against the other three nations. The film’s hero, the reluctant young Aang (Noah Ringer), is the “Last Airbender” — the Avatar who, according to prophecy, has the ability to manipulate all of the elements and bring all the nations together. Aided by a protective teenage Waterbender named Katara (Nicola Peltz) and her bull-headed brother Sokka, Aang proceeds on a perilous journey to restore balance to their war-torn world. Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire) plays the Fire Nation’s evil prince Zuko. Exiled from the Fire Nation by his father, Zuko is sent to capture the Avatar in order to restore his honor and right to the throne.
