Richard Matheson's EARTHBOUND to be adapted for the Big-Screen

Movie by Eli Reyes

Mega-producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald have ventured outside of Dreamworks, where they have a first-look deal, to option the rights to the "erotic ghost story" Earthbound, the novel by legendary author Richard Metheson.

Following in the steps of I Am Legend, A Stir of Echoes, What Dreams May Come and Somwhere in Time; Earthbound becomes the latest of Matheson's books to get the big-sceen treatment. Ronnie Christensen (Passengers, Locked In), will adapt the book for the screen.

Here's the book synopsis:

David and Ellen Cooper came to the lonely beachside cottage in hopes of rekindling their troubled marriage. Yet they are not alone on their second honeymoon. Marianna, a beautiful and enigmatic stranger, comes to visit David whenever Ellen is away. Who is Marianna, and where has she come from? Even as he succumbs to her seductive charms, David realizes that Marianna is far more than a threat to his marriage, for her secrets lie deep in the past and beyond the grave. And her unholy desires endanger the life and soul of everyone she touches.

Imagenation Abu Dhabi will fund the film, which pacted with the producers' Parkes/MacDonald Prods banner in October to fund development of feature projects.

Parkes explained to THR:

Richard Matheson's novels and short stories have been adapted into some of the most memorable science fiction and fantasy films ever produced -- from Steven Spielberg's landmark 'Duel,' to the elegant time-travel romance 'Somewhere in Time,' to last year's mega-hit 'I Am Legend.' We're excited to have the opportunity to work on one of this extraordinary author's most intimate and suspenseful novels.

We'll be keeping an eye on this one, this is sure to attract some big named directors and stars. I haven't read the book, so I'm hoping those of you who have can weigh in on whether or not you'd like to see this made into a movie. Sound off in the rant back section below.
