SCREAM 4 Starts Shooting in May - Wes Craven Directing

Movie Wes CravenScream by Joey Paur

The LA Times has a great little article on the master of horror Wes Craven that discusses his career as a filmmaker. He's been making movies for four decades and he doesn't plan to stop. In fact, his goal is to die in his 90's on the set.

My goal is to die in my 90s on the set, say, ‘That’s a wrap,’ after the last shot, fall over dead and have the grips go out and raise a beer to me.

It's a great article and I suggest you give it a read. Hidden in this article is a little bit of news I've been waiting to hear, and that's that he'll start shooting Scream 4 in May!

Craven recently finished “My Soul to Take,” which is scheduled for release sometime this year. And in May, he starts on “Scream 4.”

I'm a big fan of the first Scream trilogy, and the more I heard about this fourth film, the more excited I got because I think if you liked the first Scream films then there's a chance you're going to enjoy the next chapter. I really hope it lives up to my expectations. To be honest, I'm mostly looking forward to the opening sequence of the film.

What this mean is Craven is officially on board to direct the movie! Thats a huge plus! On top of that Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette are all attached to star in the film written by the original Scream trilogy writer Kevin Williamson.

The story is set ten years later in the town of Woodsboro. They will have a ensemble cast which will introduce some new characters. Williamson has said that the film will be incredibly scary and will reference manga comics, Asian ghost girl movies, PG-13 horror movies, vampire films, M. Night Shyamalan movies and torture porn movies.

I don't know about you but I'm excited for this one. What are your thoughts on the Scream franchise being revived with Wes Craven as the director?
