Jan Pinkava has a nice little history working for Pixar, working on films such as Monster's Inc., Toy Story 2, A Bugs Life and got story credit for Ratatouille, which he co-directed. He is now moving on to the same studio that brought us the Academy Award nominated film Coraline, Laika Entertainment.
Laika Entertainment's Coraline was a great film and I've been wondering what project they would take on next. Since Henry Selick left the company after Coraline a lot of people have been unsure with it's future. They recently cut out their whole computer animation department and are only going to focus on stop-motion films.
Now we know that there next film will be called Little White Lie, and Pinkava will be directing it. We don't know much other than it's an original idea that Pinkava came up with. He is currently writing the film with Chris McCoy.
Laika is also developing a few other projects, which include Paranorman, an original idea from Laika story supervisor Chris Butler about a 13-year-old boy who must save his cursed small town from a zombie attack. Then they are developing an adaptation of Alan Snow’s bestselling book Here Be Monsters!, about a 12-year-old boy who lives underground in London in the 1850’s.
