Admiral Ackbar as Mississippi Rebels Mascot? Awesome!
There are a group of college student at Mississippi that want Admiral Ackbar from Star Wars as their school mascot!
Students voted this week to begin the search for a new mascot at the Southeastern Conference school. The Oxford-based university has been without a mascot since 2003, when Colonel Reb, a caricature of an aging Southern planter, was run off the field.
Officials at the school say there's no way that Admiral Ackbar, one of the leaders of the Rebel Alliance in Return of the Jedi, could end up being the on-field mascot for Ole Miss. The student body president even dismisses it as comic relief.
Obviously the student body president isn't a Star Wars fan. But all the other Star Wars fans at the school are pushing for it. And why the hell not! Ackbar would make a great mascot! If George Lucas say's it OK then do it! They already have a great tag line to play with...
"It's a trap!"
