List of Possible Directors for PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 Includes... Brian De Palma?

Paramount Pictures is currently on the hunt for a new director to take on the sequel to Paranormal Activity. The first film was made for about $11,000 dollars and grossed more than $100 million at the box office. I enjoyed watching the first film! It was a very fun and scary movie, but will lightening strike twice? I don't think the sequel will be as good, scary, or effective as the first film was. But Paramount is hell bent on doing it so I guess we'll see what happens, especially after we find out who's directing it.

The studio originally had Saw VI director Kevin Greutert attached to direct the movie but he had to drop out so he could direct the next Saw film -- which he was contractually obligated to do with Lionsgate.

I thought that the studio would go after a few lesser known genre director to take on the project but it looks like they are going after a few of the big boys. One name on the list threw me for loop and that's Brian De Palma! Yes, the Brian De Palma, the same guy that made Scarface, The Untouchables, and Mission: Impossible

This is a very interesting choice and if he actually is brought on to direct Paranormal Activity 2, it should would make for a very interesting film, and maybe that's what the sequel needs, something completely different than what was done the first time around. I would definitely be more interested in seeing it with him at the helm.

According to LA Times there are a few other talented people out there that are being considered as directors such as Akiva Goldsman who has been a writer and producer on films such as A Beautiful Mind, The Da Vinci Code and I Am Legend. He won't end up directing the film but just the fact that Paramount is looking at a guy like this to direct this film shows that they are looking to really change up the sequel.

So who are the younger more realistic director choices? How about Brad Anderson, who directed a couple great low budget films such as Session 9 and Transsiberian. I think Anderson is a great direct with a great vision and imagination. If you haven't seen either of those films I suggest you check them out. Another name that's been thrown out there is Greg McLean who directed a little Australian horror film called Wolf Creek.

As of right now the script is being written, and the film is set to be released on October 22nd. That's eight months from now, so I'm sure we'll find out who the new director is soon enough.

Out of De Palma, Anderson, and Mclean who would you like to see take on Paranormal Activity 2?
