Mark Millar Says WANTED 2 Is Almost Ready to Go

It's been quite a long time since we've heard anything regarding the sequel to the film Wanted. We knew there was talk of it happening and that a script was being written, but how far has it come since all that Wanted 2 chatter? Comic book writer Mark Millar (Wanted, Kick-Ass) recently talked to IGN about Wanted Part 2 and where it's at in terms of going into production. He reveals,

I can't remember exactly when it's going to start shooting — I don't even know if I can officially say — but it will be soon and the script is almost ready.

So it looks like everything has fallen into place for this sequel. I'm not sure how they are going to go about making it because of how the first movie ended *Spoiler* with Angelina Jolie killing herself. And yes, Angelina Joile will be in the sequel.

We've been going back and forth with some ideas, but there's a lot of people to please. There's Angelina Jolie, there's [director] Timur [Bekmambetov] and there's Universal. Everybody is a perfectionist on it, so nobody wants to come in and cash the check and take off. Everybody wants it to be good. And the first movie made $340 million, so the bar is pretty high. It's not as if we started small and this could hopefully get a bit bigger. This has got to be mega now because the last one made a lot of money and people are expecting a lot from it.

If the script has to have Angelina Joile's OK then she must be in it. I don't know how they are going to do that. We've heard rumors of a Prequel to make it work but according to Millar, it will take place right where the last movie left off. And then offers a little insight on what the sequel will be about.

['Wanted 2'] follows immediately at the end of the first movie and the fraternity is down in America. But there's an international fraternity, which we had in the [miniseries] as well. There [were] five fraternities across the world and [Wesley] is out there being hunted by the other guys.

If the sequel is just as fun, exciting, and humorous as the original film I'll definitely be looking forward to seeing it. It definitely has the potential. Miller concludes by saying,

So, the screenplay is almost at the stage where people are getting happy with it. Some people had problems with it a few months ago and some people didn't like the draft that was around [prior to that].

Now that people are getting happy with the script, I guess it's only a matter of time before the film gets an official green light.
