Simon Pegg reunites with several of his Spaced cast members for BURKE & HARE
Simon Pegg has been the revealing and confirming news for John Landis‘ true crime story Burke and Hare through his Twitter page, being the first to reveal two weeks ago that Andy Serkis (LOTR Trilogy) had replaced David Tennant as his co-star (before the tweet was quickly yanked and then eventually confirmed). Now he's confirmed even more casting by Tweeting IMDB's extended cast list and revealing that he will be reuniting with cast mates from his sitcom Spaced, namely Jessica Hynes, Michael Smiley, Bill Bailey and Reece Shearsmith -- or as you may remember them, Daisy, Tyres, Bilbo and Dexter.
Pegg called the list “pretty spot on,” but did indicate one mistake on the roster -- John Cleese will not be appearing. Others joining the cast are Tim Curry, Christopher Lee, Hugh Bonneville, John Woodvine and Ronnie Corbett.
Pegg and Serkis will star as real life Irish immigrants William Burke and William Hare, who sold the corpses of their seventeen victims to the Edinburgh Medical College for dissection, in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1827 and 1828.
Isla Fisher and Tom Wilkinson also joined the cast recently, with Fisher playing Pegg's girlfriend, an actress looking for a patron who may have been involved with the murders. While Wilkinson will play Dr. Robert Knox, an anatomy lecturer looking for freshly deceased bodies.
This has a ridiculously solid and diverse cast. I can't wait for the comedic hijinks Landis has in store for us.
Production for Burke and Hare began at the end of last month.
