FOX Is Moving Forward with DAREDEVIL Reboot

Movie DaredevilFox by Joey Paur

There's been a good amount of talk over the last year about Fox rebooting the Daredevil movie franchise. Now all that talk is being put into action. News Corp VP Peter Chernin has been brought on to produce the film and David Scarpa has been hired to write it. Scarpa's most recent project was the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still, which I didn't like at all. But he also wrote the Robert Redford film The Last Castle, which was a decent film. So this script could go either way. I think the reboot will end up slightly better than the first film, but that really isn't hard to do.

The original movie was directed by Mark Steven Johnson and starred Ben Affleck in the title role and Jennifer Garner as Elektra. The film was released a seven years ago, and it only grossed $179.2 million worldwide. Because it sucked.

So why is Fox jumping on the project now? Because if they don't get it into production they would lose the right to the character and it would go back to Marvel. Letting Marvel take it back would have been the honorable thing to do. Now they're gonna rush out a crappy film just so they can hold on to the rights, that's not so honorable.

So this is definitely a movie I'm not looking forward to at the moment. The only thing that could make this worth it is if they actually cast Jason Statham who has expressed interest in stepping into the Daredevil role.

What are your thought on FOX moving forward with the Daredevil Reboot?
