Steven Spielberg might end up Directing ROBOPOCALYPSE

Word on the street is that Steven Spielberg might end up taking on the directing duties for a big-budget sci-fi action film called Robopocalypse.

Last year we reported that DreamWorks acquired the rights to the unpublished book of the same name. At the time, the film was supposed to be put on the fast track to production. This story has all the makings of a great action-packed sci-fi film, and at the same time it sounds a lot like Terminator. It explores the fate of the human race following a robot uprising.

The story was described as "a cautionary tale of man versus machine" the author of the book Daniel H. Wilson has a background in robotics and artificial intelligence, which helps ground this story "with a frightening level of realism and he has created an exhilarating story that we think audiences will really respond to."

The book that Wilson is writing isn't even finished yet, but Cloverfield screenwriter Drew Goddard has been hired to pen the script which he's already begun writing.

I think it would be awesome if Spielberg ended up taking on this project, the guy has made some of the greatest sc-fi films ever made. Unfortunately, War of the Worlds was not one of them, but I'd love to see what Spielberg could do with a with a robot uprising epic.

What do you think about Spielberg possibly taking on this Robopocalypse?
