Chloe Moretz and Asa Butterfield Join Scorsese's THE INVENTION OF HUGO CABRET

Yesterday we reported that director Martin Scorsese was talking to Sacha Baron Cohen and Ben Kingsley about joining his next film, The Invention of Hugo Cabret. He's now got a couple of young leads that he is casting in the children's film as well.

Asa Butterfield will play the title character, and Chloe Moretz will take the role of the lead female character Isabelle. Moretz is a great young actress that is getting a lot of great roles in Hollywood. She was recently in (500) Days of Summer, will be seen as Hit Girl in Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass, and she's also playing the lead role in Let Me In, the Americanized remake of Let the Right One In

As for Butterfield he starred in The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, which was quite the depressing movie. At the same time the kid was a great in it. Scorsese is really putting together a great and interesting cast for his next film. Both these kids have some very strong acting skills.

The novel centers on an orphaned boy who secretly lives in the walls of a busy Paris train station and looks after the clocks. He gets caught up in a mystery adventure when he attempts to repair a mechanical man.

The novel won the Randolph Caldecott Medal in 2008 for the most distinguished American picture book for children. Chris Wedge (Ice Age) was previously attached to direct the film. John Logan (The Aviator) wrote the script.
