Does PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 Have its Director?

As you know Paramount Pictures is currently prepping up to get Paranormal Activity 2 into production for a October 22nd release date. They still have yet to announce a director for the project, but according to STYD and sources at the studio Akiva Goldsman is the one that is closest to helm the next installment of the horror film sequel.

Last month it was reported that the studio was looking at a few other directors as well that included Greg McLean (Rogue), Brad Anderson (Session 9) and Brian De Palma (Mission Impossible). Goldsman is now on the top of the list.

Goldsman has a great resume of films that he's written in his career which began with the John Grisham adaptation The Client, then went on to write A Time to Kill, Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, Lost in Space, I Am Legend, The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons. As far as directing goes, he's directed two Fringe episodes and an episode of Kings

If he gets the gig, Paranormal Activity 2 will be his feature film directorial debut. I really don't care who directs the film, I think it's a bad idea for a sequel all together. But, I guess there's always a slim chance it will be a decent sequel.

What do you think?
