Updates on GUARDIANS OF GA'HOOLE, FAST FIVE and MACGRUBER

Movie Fast & Furious by Joey Paur

Warner Bros. has renamed the CGI animated film being directed by Zack Snyder. Guardians of Ga'Hoole is an adaptation of Kathryn Lasky's book and it's been renamed Legend of the Guardians. I guess they wanted to go with a name that's easier for kids to comprehend? The fantasy-adventure film is scheduled to be released in 3D theaters and IMAX 3D on September 24. It has an incredible cast of voices which includes Emily Barclay, Abbie Cornish, Emilie de Ravin, Ryan Kwanten, Jay Laga'aia, Miriam Margolyes, Helen Mirren, Sam Neill, Richard Roxburgh, Geoffrey Rush, Jim Sturgess, Hugo Weaving and David Wenham.

Universal Pictures has announced the release date of the fifth film in the Fast and the Furious franchise, Fast Five. The movie will be released on June 10, 2011. As of right now, there are no other films scheduled for that date yet. But it is during summer so I'm sure it will have some decent competition. The movie is being directed by Justin Lin, and Vin Diesel and Paul Walker are coming back to reprise their roles in the race car action film whre Dom (Diesel) and Brian (Walker) are fugitives being pursued by relentless lawmen.

Universal's also moved the release date of MacGruber from April 23 to May 21st. The reason for the release date change is so it's not competing against the comic book film adaptation of The Losers. MacGruber is based on the classic Saturday Night Live sketch. This is going to be an rated 'R' action flick that has been getting a lot of positive buzz so far. Instead of going against The Losers it will open up against Shrek Forever After. MacGruber was directed by Jorma Taccone and stars Will Forte, Ryan Phillippe, Kristen Wiig, Val Kilmer and Powers Boothe.
