Paul W.S. Anderson Officially Directing BUCK ROGERS

Resident Evil and Death Race director Paul W.S. Anderson has signed on to direct the updated 3D film version of Buck Rogers. Well, at least it isn't Frank Miller directing as previously rumored... right? Anderson is a decent director... right? Okay... lets face it, the movie's going to be crap. I've enjoyed a few of Anderson's films just because they're stupid fun, but now he's going to be developing the big screen adaptation of an all time classic, and I just don't think Anderson is the guy that will turn it into the great movie that it could be. He's a very mediocre director who is going to give us a very mediocre Flash Gordon film. I'm disappointed.

The screenplay will be written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, who both wrote Marvel's Iron Man. Paradox is the company that owns the rights to the franchise. They also own the rights to Conan the Barbarian and are behind the new version that is currently being filmed, unfortunately, that movie sounds like it's going to be a turd as well.

Buck Rogers is a classic pulp comic that began in the late 1920's and 30's, and throughout the years it has gone through several numerous film and TV adaptations. Buck Rogers has been credited with bringing into popular media the concept of space exploration, following in the footsteps of literary pioneers such as Jules Verne, H.G. Wells and Edgar Rice Burroughs (John Carter of Mars).

Anderson is currently in development on Resident Evil 4, and a new version of The Three Musketeers.
