John Krasinski close to getting CAPTAIN AMERICA role, Marvels not Looking at the "Other Guys"

According to inside sources at Marvel John Krasinski is so close to being offered the role of a lifetime as Steve Rogers in The First Avenger: Captain America. They tell Fox News the following:

John has read 4 times and is doing screen tests. He has screen tested 2 times so far.  It's very likely that he will be the new Captain America.  He is a favorite among the key decision makers and has been asked to come back for more this week.

I thought for sure Marvel has already made up their mind and cast Captain America and that they were just making us all wait in suspense. Apparently that's not the case, but it sounds like Krasinski is their number one choice and that the role is his if he wants it.

The big bosses are having him read with multiple actresses up for the female leads.  They want to lock down the role and then they will narrow down everyone else.

I am a supporter of Krasinski taking on the role of Captain America I think he's a great fit for the character. But it seems like many fans of the Comic aren't that excited about him being cast. Why? I don't know because he really does fit the part if you know the characters history. I did a full on discussion of why he is perfect for the role which you can Read Here

It's a surprise and we are bracing ourselves for 'that guy from 'The Office'' to land Captain America.  They are not really looking at the other guys, so it's time to get ready to work with him. If John gets offered the role, the pay will not be outrageous but it would be a multi-film deal.  Marvel has big plans to tie the movies together and John would have parts in all of them since the first Captain America will be an origin story.  The movie will break down how Steve Rogers becomes Captain America.

We've heard that the person cast as Captain America will get a 9 picture deal but will only make $300,000 off the first film.

From the sound of it Krasinski has the role in bag, and that he will end up being our Captain America.
