Alex Pettyfer cast in Steven Spielberg-produced film I AM NUMBER 4

Director DJ Caruso (Eagle Eye, Disturbia) is currently prepping up for a new sci-fi film for DreamWorks called I Am Number 4. The film is being produced by Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg and it looks like they have found an actor to take on the lead role in the film. Alex Pettyfer is currently in talks with the studio and filmmakers to star in the film. I haven't seen any of the films he's been in like Stormbreaker, Wild Child and Beastly but he looks like he belongs on the CW.

The film is based on the first of a six-book science fiction series from writer James Frey. Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar wrote the script.

I Am Number Four focuses on the fate of nine gifted children and their guardians, the sole survivors of a bitter war on their home planet called Lorien, who have settled on Earth under the protection of a charm that means their enemies can only kill them in numeric order. Three of the nine are dead; the novel’s narrator is number Four. The nine children and their guardians evacuate to earth and the protagonist, a Lorien boy named John Smith, hides in Paradise, Ohio, as a human and tries to evade his predators.

The story was first reported by FilmDrunk a couple weeks ago, and The trades have only now confirmed it. Bay was actually developing the project for himself to direct at one point, but now all he makes is Transformers movies.
