Reawakened Rumor that Logan Lerman is the new Peter Parker in SPIDER-MAN Reboot
This is the second time that it's been rumored that Logan Lerman is Sony Pictures top contender to take over Tobey Maguire's role of Peter Parker in the new Spider-Man reboot. We reported it last month, and at this point it is still only a rumor. Hitfix reports from a "inside source" that,
Logan Lerman is first choice for Sony Pictures and the clear frontrunner to replace Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker in the reboot of the blockbuster franchise. A source close to the production tells HitFix Lerman is "almost 100% locked" but not in contract negotiations for the role yet.
So the actor hasn't even started contract negotiations with the studio yet, and he's almost locked? Almost doesn't cut it in this town. For all you know I could be almost locked to play Peter Parker. If Lerman was actually in negotiations then this story would be a lot more interesting. Like I said before, who knows if this rumor is true or not. But, it does look like it's coming from multiple sources now.
There are other rumored contenders which included Anton Yelchin, Jesse Eisenberg, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Patrick Fugit and Johnny Simmons. I love how HitFix says that Lerman beat out the other "rumored contenders," because it's like rumors are beating out other rumors now?
If Lerman ends up getting the part, fine. But until he is actually in talks or in negotiations there's no reason to believe that he will be the next Peter Parker. That being said, I think he would make a decent Peter Parker, he seems like a good actor, unfortunately Percy Jackson sucked.
The new Spider-Man reboot is being directed by Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer), which I think is great! The script was written by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, The Losers) which is also great! There is some great talent on board to bring this film to life. The film will put more of a focus Parker in his high school days, making this new Spider-Man more teen friendly. The new film is expected to begin production later this year for a July 3, 2012 release.
So if these rumors turn out to be true, what do you think about Lerman as Peter Parker?
