HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN Feature film Starts Shooting Next Week and the Hobo Has been Cast
Jason Eisener is an amateur filmmaker that directed a great little fake grindhouse trailer called Hobo With A Shotgun. The short was made in 2007, and entered into a contest surrounding the the Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino Grindhouse double feature. The hardcore exploitation trailer won the contest, and was shown with Grindhouse prints up in Canada. Everyone seemed to love the concept of this film, and it was only a matter of time before it got adapted into a full length feature.
Eisener, who worked at a comic book shop when he made the film, has been trying to get a feature film made, and now it's being reported that the movie will start shooting on Monday of next week! The other great news is who they actually got to star in the movie... film legend Rutger Hauer. This is pitch perfect casting, for the role of the shotgun wilding hobo! If you don't know who this is he's been in a ton of movies which include, Batman Begins, Sin City, Blind Fury, Blade Runner and a ton of other films.
There's no doubt this will be a fun film to watch, especially with Hauer on board to star in it. I'm definitely interested to see how Eisener plans to develop it into a full length film. If you haven't seen this fake grindhouse movie trailer, or need a little reminder of it's awesomeness, then you can check it out below. Enjoy!
And in case you didn't know Eisner was also the guy that made this brilliantly sadistic short film Treevenge.
