Here are my thoughts on CLASH OF THE TITANS, What are Yours?

Well, the new Louis Leterrier remake of Clash of the Titans made for a great movie trailer, and some really cool posters didn’t it? They got me extremely hyped up for the film, so hyped up that I went out and hyped all of you up to go see it as well. The movie seriously looked like it was going to be a fun and exciting film! Too bad the movie ended up being a gigantic kraken-sized disappointment.

This film was so choppy, and so all over the place that it made a simple story hard to follow. It was also full of huge gaping holes and bad cuts, but I guess that’s okay because the story sucked anyway. It lacked any type of connectivity. It’s like the story they told tried to steer away from the original film as much as possible, but at the same time they wanted to keep all of the big epic elements. The story of the original is a timeless classic that you can actually follow, and has smooth transitions and great characters. In the original film the whole goal of Perseus was to battle the famous monsters to save the Princess Andromeda so he could marry her. In the new film, Perseus embarks on a journey to stop the underworld and its minions from spreading their evil to Earth as well as the heavens. So they tried to take it to a more epic level, but it ultimately fell flat on it’s face. This was the same story line of Disney’s Hercules, which was also a better movie.

The story for the new Clash of the Titans was extremely hollow, there was absolutely no heart and soul behind it. It’s like the filmmakers just wanted to show off a lot of big epic action sequences. Unfortunately, even those action sequences were a huge let down, bad choreography mixed with awful special effects. The story definitely took a back seat when this film was being made.

Not only did the script suck but so did the acting! Holy hell! Why would someone take a bunch of good solid actors and make them suck? I don’t get it? Sam Worthington was laughable, Ralph Fiennes as Hades was terrible, Liam Neeson was the best part of the film, he did the best he could with the material he was given. As for Gemma Arterton’s character Io… she wasn’t even needed in the story! She served as a damn narrator and storyteller throughout the film. Seriously, as she was traveling with the soldiers, she was telling background stories to fill the audience in on what was going on, I hate when movies do that! She also tries to train these guys in what to expect along the way. As beautiful as she was, the character annoyed the hell out of me. At one point she was filling the soldiers in on some information about Medusa, and even goes as far as to try and train Peruses in the hull of a death boat where they almost get a little frisky. Yeah the perfect place to hook up with a woman is in the hull of a death boat on some dirty gold coins. Anyway, she goes through all this stuff to train these guys only to reveal that no one has ever come out of Medusa's lair alive, that no one’s lived to tell the tale. Well, then how in the hell does she know so damn much about Medusa and how she fights!?

As for Perseus, I didn't like him in this remake at all. He was always slouching over and seemed tired. He was trying to look bad-ass, but came off looking like a little kid afraid to go to class on his first day of school. I love how he talks about how he’s never wielded a sword because he's a fisherman, he's only mended nets. But then all of a sudden he gets one five minute training lesson, and he's one of the most skilled bad-ass fighters in the movie? I don’t think so. Even Hercules who had God like powers went through years of training before he became the legend he became. Then through the whole film he’s got people telling him to take the gifts that the Gods have given him and use them, and he being a stubborn asshole keeps repeating this statement through the whole film… “If I’m going to do this, I’m going to do it as a man.” I’m gonna do it a man, was uttered way too many times, to the point where people started laughing in the theater because of how much he said it. Oh yeah, then at the end of the day, guess what? He finally uses the gifts that the gods gave him, which had he used them earlier, would have saved the lives of his fellow companions, but he was too freakin stubborn! Then after he uses the gifts of the gods he goes right back to saying how he wants to “do it as a man.” Just shut up.

The movie was laughably bad. I will say I had a hell of a fun time bashing the film with my friends after we saw it, so if you need a reason to see it, then there it is, to have fun bashing the film during or after the movie. We couldn't help but laugh while watching it in the theaters.

This doesn’t even compare to the original Clash of the Titans movie. That film was so much better in everyway possible.

This is just my opinion. I recommend you go see it for yourself and make up your own opinion on the film, but just to make it clear I don’t recommend you see it because of how good it was, because it wasn’t. I hate being let down like this, as far as director Louis Leterrier possibly directing The Avengers… after watching this film, I truly hope Marvel doesn’t bring him in to direct it, they need to stay as far away from him as possible.

Please tell us what you thought of CLASH OF THE TITANS if you’ve seen it!
