STRETCH ARMSTRONG Film Gets a Director and New Writer
I still don't understand why this new Stretch Armstrong movie is being made. I just seems like such a lame ass idea. It worked as a toy in the late 70's early 80's, but I just don't see it being a good film, this is a movie that needed to be made while kids were actually still playing with the toy. It's not like there's a market out there for it. Then with Taylor Lautner in the lead role... you kinda know where this film is headed... disasterville.
Universal Pictures went out and got themselves a director for the movie and a new writer to re-write the crappy script that currently exists. Can a decent script even be written around Stretch Armstrong?? I don't think so. Rob Letterman is the man who will bring Stretch Armstrong to life on the big screen. Letterman is mostly known for directing CGI animated films such as Monsters Vs. Aliens and Shark Tale. Armstrong will be his first live-action feature film. The writer and director of Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Nick Stroller, is jumping on board the sinking ship to try and patch things up with the script.
Lautner will play the blonde headed stretchy man that will be doing stretchy stuff in the film, which is being developed as a comedy about a reluctant superhero.
As you can tell, I don't have any hope at all for this movie. It's just a bad combination of everything that shouldn't be done in the film. I'm sure it will be a comedic parody of all the other superhero stories that we've heard already. Nothing new or original can come from this.
What are your thoughts on the Stretch Armstrong movie? Am I wrong? Do you think it will be awesome?
