Could DC's STARMAN be getting his own feature film?
Apparently so.
The rumor came down the line yesterday through Pajiba. They were "leaked" some info that Warner Brothers and DC were planning to to bring Starman to the silver screen.
For those of you who don't know, this is not a remake of the John Carpenter's 1984 Starman starring Jeff Bridges. This is the ever evolving Starman of the Justic League. This character was frist brought to us in Adventure Comics #61, April 1941, and since then the charcter has been revamped many times. I am very interested to see which version they bring to the film. So far there is no director or writer attached to this film. Dan Lin (Sherlock Holmes), however, is attached to produce it.
Ever since I became interested in comic books, I have loved the on-going battle between Marvel and DC. I am getting this feeling, with the filming of a Starman movie, that the DC execs. are setting themselves up for a Justice League movie to compete with the Avengers movie that will be coming to us soon. Hey, I don't mind. The more they compete, the more we get.
Unfortunatly, I don't see DC winning this war. Yes DC does have the Batman franchise going for them, and Green Lantern is on it's way. But I see nothing on the radar for either Superman or Wonder Woman. They are kind of key pieces to the JL puzzle. Imdb reports that there is a Flash movie in development, but due to the lack of info on it, I wouldn't hold my breath.
Anyway, I hope that this movie does well for selfish reasons. I want the fight to be on between comic book factions. I want them to keep trying to one up eachother. That way the superhero genre will stick around for as long as possible. We here GT will keep you informed on any further developments on this film as soon as we get them. Until next time, let me know what you think.
