Megan Fox to Play RED SONJA?

Robert Rodriguez’s Red Sonja film remake has been trying to get off the ground and into production for some time now. There was even a point where Rose McGowan was cast in the title role and some promo posters were even created for the unproduced film. There seemed to be some excitement building up around it, but as of late it been in some kind of limbo.

The reason it’s been taking so long to get off the ground is because Rodriguez doesn’t own all of the rights. It belongs to another company, here is his explanation.

If I kept the project myself, we could’ve just made it, but it belonged to another company that had financing problems. They had to wait until they made a couple of other movies first. They’re actually waiting until they make the Conan movie before they do that - to see how that works for them.

McGowan was recently cast in the upcoming Conan movie, and that led to speculation that she might pop in and make a Red Sonja cameo. But now it looks like that may not be the case. Apparently Rose McGowan is completely off the project, the director that was hired, Douglas Aarniokoski, is also off the project, and Millineum Films is searching for another writer.

So they are pretty much scrapping everything and starting from scratch, and it all starts with bringing in a new actress to take on the role of Red Sonja. That new actress is Megan Fox.

This is all just a rumor as of right now, but that's what Pajiba is reporting. The project is still moving forward and according to the report Fox still has yet to take the offer. I don’t see why she wouldn’t, it could only help her career as an actress, it can’t get any worse than it already is. The studio feels that Fox is more age appropriate than McGowan which also makes sense, and Fox is much better looking as well.

The new film will be an origin story about an innocent teenager who metamorphosizes into an unparalleled warrior.

What are your thoughts on the possibility of Megan Fox taking on the role of Red Sonja?
