New Detail from Joss Whedon's Horror Film THE CABIN IN THE WOODS Emerge

There's been a lot of news surrounding director Joss Whedon lately, especially with the news that he is in the running to direct Marvel's The Avengers. There's a horror film project that he and Drew Goddard have been working on for some time now called The Cabin in the Woods. This is a film that the creators have been very tight-lipped about. They haven't revealed much, and have really never talked about what the film is about. All we know is it takes place in a cabin in the woods, and that it puts a spin on the classic horror genre.

Actress Amy Acker, who co-stars in the film, didn't let any of this secrecy stop her from talking about the film at WonderCon. She doesn't go into much detail, but she does reveal something that we didn't know about the film before, and that's that it's going to be a creature feature.

There's a lot of scary monsters. It's a scary movie. It is about a cabin in the woods. You've figured it out. Yeah, it's about a cabin in the woods. It does take from the sort of formula of the horror movie of this group of young kids who go away to a cabin in the woods for the weekend, and everything that happens and what you think is supposed to happen.

The film is completely finished, all except for the 3D conversion that is being done to it. What? You didn't think it would get a 3D conversion? Come on, everything is being converted these days. It's ridiculous, I know, but this is the world we live in now, a world of 3D movies.

Regardless of the 3D conversion, Cabin in the Woods is a film I'm looking forward to seeing. We've been hearing about it for so long, and it's amazing how well the filmmakers have been able to keep the plot and story completely under wraps. I hope this film has a great payoff.

The Cabin in the Woods is going to be released in theaters Jan. 14, 2011.
