Looks like the last couple Twilight films may end up getting itself the franchise's best director so far. Dreamgirls director Bill Condon is Summit Entertainment's choice to direct the final two installments of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. He was on a list of A-list directors approved for the film that also included Sofia Coppola, Gus Van Sant, and Stephen Daldry.
The studio hasn’t officially signed him yet, but they are currently negotiating a deal, so if the talks they are currently having work out then Condon will close out the Twilight film franchise. Out of all the Twilight film directors I think Condon is them most distinguished. The guy is a talented director. Not only did he direct Dreamgrils but he made a great little indie film called Gods and Monsters. He might actually be able to make something of these Twilight films.
The final two films will begin production this fall, and the studio is planning on shooting them back to back. If Condon does sign on to do it, this will be his next film project. He planned to direct another film called Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, which he was putting together to be distributed by Fox Searchlight, but that will be pushed back. Condon is also attached to direct the Richard Pryor biopic, starring Marlon Waynes.
I’m not on board the Twilight train, but I know a ton of girls that are, and with Condon taking the reigns the last two Twilight films will probably end up being the best.
