Tom Arnold Joins Peter Berg's Alien Invasion BATTLESHIP Movie

Tom Arnold... what happened to that guy? He gave an absolutely fantastic performance in True Lies and then it all went down hill from there. It's not like the guy isn't talented, but now all he talks about these days is how he and Arnold Schwarzenegger are going to team up for a True Lies 2, which will never happen.

But it looks like he's jumping back onboard a new big-budget action film, Peter Berg's Battleship movie -- the one based off the the classic board game only aliens have been added to the story to spice things up a bit. Arnold is the second confirmed cast member for the film, yesterday we reported that Taylor Kitsch was cast in the lead role.

Here is what Arnold had to say to Movieline regarding True Lies 2 and working with his pals Cameron and Schwarzenegger again.

I’ve punked you and many others about a follow up to True Lies. I specifically said it won’t be called True Lies 2 (Jim’s request and show me where Jim has said we won’t work together the Comic Con transcripts, caught him saying he was trying to figure out story) but he and Arnold and I will work together. We are real friends. No one tells Jim what to do (even me) but I’d guess he’d like to do a nice character piece before jumping back into the sequel game (he’s canoeing through the Brazinian rain forrest or some crazy shit right now (which apparently has Blackberry service and “has an idea” I pray that’s not his revenge on all the trouble I’ve caused my friend…locating Arnold and me down there for a year..but we’d do it).

Then he adds, confirming his new movie role,

Doing Pete Berg’s Battleship in Australia in August.

I think it's great Arnold will be in the film, it will be interesting to see what character he will play.

The action adventure will unfold as a massive Naval adventure across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Kitsch is playing a Naval commander named Alex Hopper in the film. The film is scheduled for a May 25, 2012 release.
