Marvel Moving into the 3D Realm of Films

Come on, don't act so surprised, we all knew it was eventually going to happen even though we all hoped that it wouldn't. Iron Man 2 almost got the crappy 3D conversion, thankfully it didn't, and the movie did pretty damn well having not been released in 3D! There wasn't enough time to go through the conversion process.

Now Marvel is seriously thinking about bringing it's future comic book films in to the third dimension. There are three Marvel films currently being developed over the next 2 years, and those are the films they are considering going 3D with. Marvel President Kevin Feige had this to say,

The team has been doing a lot of research into 3-D processes, and we're looking at it on future films when we have the time. We will be doing it at some point.

Now Thor is already in production, so at this point if they want to release it in 3D it will have to go through the conversion process. As for First Avenger: Captain America and The Avengers, these could possibly end up being shot in 3D, which is better than being converted.

We can all thank James Cameron and Avatar for this whirlwind of 3D filmmaking that has taken over Hollywood. When done right it could be cool if you want to spend the extra cash for it, but most 3D films aren't being done right.

What are your thoughts on Marvel wanting to give their new films the 3D treatment?
