Warner Bros. Setting up a GRUDGE MATCH

Movie Warner Bros. by Joey Paur

Warner Bros. has recently picked up a movie pitch from screenwriter Tim Kelleher called Grudge Match. The story is an original idea that is described as having the same tone as the film Space Cowboys.

The movie revolves around retired boxers Billy "The Kid" McGuigan and Henry "Razor" Sharp, lifelong bitter rivals who are coaxed out of retirement and into the ring for one final grudge match -- 50 years after their last title fight.

The film is being produced by Billy Gerber and Mark Steven Johnson. Kelleher who is a veteran TV writer and also wrote the 1996 film First Kid, will write the script.

Since this script involves a couple old school rivals, it's compared to Space Cowboys, and it's being set up at Warner Bros. it makes me wonder if this is a film that Clint Eastwood may actually end up getting involved with. His El Paso production company is located on the studio lot, and it sounds like a small film that he might be interested in getting his hands on.

I guess it could be fun seeing two old guys get into the boxing ring and beating each other senseless. What do you think?
