Cartoon Network Developing GREEN LANTERN Animated Series

Hey Gang! For those of you who are into comic books and animated TV shows then here's some news to get excited about. Cartoon Network is planning to develop a new comic book TV series called Green Lantern: The Animated Series. I guess they are trying to go back to their roots with the title, if you recall in the 90's we had the incredible Batman: The Animated Series. Maybe next we'll get Flash: The Animated Series.

According to the trades, Warner Bros. chairman and CEO Barry Meyer mentioned this as an example of increasing collaboration and coordination between his unit and Turner. He said the Cartoon Network show is based on the DC Comics character and Warner's 'Green Lantern' movie, scheduled for a June 17, 2011 release.

Animated TV series these days are pretty weak and disappointing, we can only hope that this Green Lantern series is half as good as Batman: The Animated Series. The question is will they stick to the character style that was developed by Bruce Timm? Personally, I'm burnt out on that style, Warner Bros. animation should start trying out some new animation character designs, something fresh. Hopefully Green Lantern will try something new, hopefully an improvement.

The new series is expected to debut in November of 2011.

What do you want to see come from this new Green Lantern animated series?
