Planet of The Apes Prequel, Mission Impossible 4, and Ice Age: Continental Drift all Get Release Dates

Howdy gang! Here's a little round-up of all the release dates that the studios have set for a few movies. Some were looking forward to some we aren't. So here they are.

Planet of the Apes

The unnecessary prequel to Planet of Apes went out and got itself a release date of June 24th 2011. The film will be called Rise of the Apes and it’s being directed by Rupert Wyatt (The Escapist). If you can’t already tell by the title, the film will be about the apes rise to power.

Here’s the official Plot Synopsis:

RISE OF THE APES (tentative title) is an origin story in the truest sense of the term. Set in present day San Francisco, the film is a reality-based cautionary tale, a science fiction science fact blend, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.

Mission Impossible 4

This mission just gotta hell of a lot more impossibler! Paramount Pictures has scheduled Mission Impossible 4 to be released in theaters on December 16th 2011. The film is being produced by J.J. Abrams, it will star Tom Cruise, and Brad Bird is so close to officially being hired as the director which would be awesome! Bird directing is the only part of this production that gets me excited about it.

Ice Age: Continental Drift

20th Century Fox is making yet another Ice Age film! Are you excited!? Yeah, me neither. The sequel will be called Ice Age: Continental Drift. Of course Fox is making this for the kids, they seem to love it, so let’s congratulate all the children in the world because I’m sure they’re all very much looking forward to it… that is once they see a trailer and beg their parents to take them to the movies to see it. Ice Age Continental Drift will be released on July 13th 2012.
