List of Awesome Mothers to look up to from Sci-Fi/Fantasy Films

Hey Gang! It being mothers day I thought it would be fun and appropriate to do a little list of the best and most badass moms from the world of sci-fi and fantasy. I’m sure you know of and have seen all the films that these moms are associated with, but each one of these mothers had a hell of a responsibility with kids.

Winona Kirk - Star Trek

This woman was a single mom who raised one of sci-fi’s biggest troublemakers... Jim Kirk. Raising Kirk couldn’t have been an easy task. The guy was a rebel, always getting into trouble, and persuing ever female with blood running through her veins, alien or not. Kirk is every mom’s worst nightmare. But, she managed to raise a great, likable and smart guy, who became the Captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise. She did a hell of a job raising Jim Kirk.

Alien Queen - Aliens

Us humans may not see the Alien Queen really as a good mother, but if you look at how things went down from her perspective she had a good reason to go after Ripley for revenge. Ripley setting all her unborn baby aliens on fire pissed her off! She was out to protect her species. You can’t be mad at her for wanting to do that. But there could be only one winner.

Ripley - Aliens

Ripley was a mother that never got to know her actual daughter, which is incredible sad. But, her motherly instincts kick in when she finds Rebecca “Newt” Jordan, the only survivor amongst the colonists of LV-426. Ripley makes it her personal mission to protect her and get her off the planet and into a safe place. They went through some pretty crazy times together on LV-426, but it all leads up to the final fight in the film... mother against mother. The alien queen vs. Ripley the final showdown which leads us to the famous line, "Get away from her you bitch!" Is that not the most awesome and lovingly thing a mom can say in a situation like that? Then Ripley and the alien queen proceed to kick each others asses.

Molly Weasley - Harry Potter

Molly is the mother of seven children, and not just regual children, children with magical abilities. Its hard enough keeping kids under control without magical powers, but when you got boys like Fred and George screwing around all the time plying pranks on their sibling’s that could just get maddening. She also raised these kids under very humble means. This family didn’t have a lot of money, but they made ends meet. She also treated Harry Potter as one of her own kids. Molly had a lot to deal with in the last two Harry Potter books. SPOILERS for those who don’t know.... but, her oldest son Bill being attacked and disfigured by a werewolf, George lost an ear, and Fred died. Thats not easy stuff for a mom to deal with. But she managed to muster up all her motherly love and abilities and ended up killing Bellatrix Lestrange, while protecting her daughter Ginny.

Martha Kent - Superman

Martha Kent was the adoptive mother of the Man of Steel, who she named Clark Kent. Clark was actually Martha’s maiden name. This fine example of a mother instilled the absolutely best morals into Clark, and knowing that he was very different from everyone else taught him to use his powers for the betterment of humanity. In most versions of the origin of Superman she was also the person that created Clarks Superman costume. My question is, when they threw a birthday party for him and it came time to blow out the candles, how did she make sure he didn’t give it his all? She was most certainly under a great deal of pressure while raising Clark, but Martha Kent was the perfect example of a mom doing her best in the most extraordinary circumstances.

Sarah Connor - Terminator 2

Now here’s a mom we can all be proud of! Sarah Connor is probably the most badass mom ever portrayed in film. This woman will stop at nothing to protect her family and the future of the world. Her whole mission in life is to do everything and anything she can to protect her son John. Not just because he is her son, but to also make sure he survives these Terminator assassination attempts so that he will be able to lead the future resistance against Skynet. She breaks the law and even kills to do it. She may not have a way with words when telling her son how much she loves and cares for him, but actions speak louder than words.

Happy Mothers Day!
