Robert Rodriguez Offered to Direct DEADPOOL Movie
Hey Gang! Here's some news that is sure to get you a little excited. It looks like Robert Rodriguez could end up directing the Deadpool spin-off film currently being written by Zombieland screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. 20th Century Fox offered him the directors chair, we are now just waiting to see if he takes the gig.
This new Deadpool movie spawned from the X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which sucked. Fox hasn't had a very good X-Men track record since Brett Ratner utterly destroyed X-Men 3.
Ryan Reynolds has had a very heavy hand in developing this new Deadpool film. He loves the character just as much as we do, and he wants this film to be done right. From all of the interviews that he and the writers have given, it seems like Deadpool is actually shaping up to be an awesome film.
There's no doubt in my mind that with Reese and Wernick writing the script we are going to get a very action packed fun movie. They seem to have the perfect attitude to take on Deadpool. It would be cool if Rodriguez took the directing gig because I think he would do some really cool things with it. There's a chance he might not do it though, Fox also recently offered him the chance to direct the Planet of the Apes prequel, but he turned it down... wouldn't you? The non-kid movies that Rodriquez make are pretty awesome, so I'm hoping he ends up taking the gig.
As of right now I feel like the Deadpool film is in good hands, there are a lot of talented people dedicated to making this movie right.
What do you all think Rodriguez possibly directing Deadpool?
