A new trailer for Sylvain Chomet's wonderful looking film The Illusionist was released recently. This is a traditionally animated film that is mostly drawn by hand, a dying art in the world of film which is being taken over by CGI animation. I love Chomet's style of art and animation, it's a very different and fresh look that we just don't see here in the states. This looks like a beautifully animated film that fans of animation and storytelling should enjoy.

The film is based upon a script by Jacque Tati, and according to the official synopsis this is the “story of a dying breed of stage entertainer whose thunder is being stolen by emerging rock stars. Forced to accept increasingly obscure assignments in fringe theaters, garden parties and bars, he meets a young fan who changes his life forever”.

Chomet directed another fantastic animated film called The Triplets of Belleville, which you should watch if you haven't already. This is an extremely talented artist that puts a lot of heart, detail, and imagination into his craft. Check out the new trailer for The Illusionist below and let us know what ya think!
