MONSTER SQUAD Remake Get a Couple of Writers

Paramount Pictures has hired cousins Mark and Brian Gunn, to write the remake of the classic 80's monster film, Monster Squad. I really dislike the fact that this movie is going to be remade. Like many of you I grew up on the original Monster Squad film, and it left a lasting impression on my childhood. 

I don't have much hope for the remake because I'm not a big fan of the guy who is producing and directing it... Rob Cohen, the same guy who directed The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Fast and the Furious and XXX. I just don't think he's a talented filmmaker, and I just don't think he's got what it takes to bring The Monster Squad back to the big screen.

The story follows a group of kids who discover a plot by Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, The Gill Man and The Mummy to try and take over the world. Paramount wants this to be a family oriented property and the hope it turns out to be a successful franchise. 

To make things worse the Gunn cousins are the same guys that wrote the sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth. Yeah, I don't think this is going to be good. What do you all think?
