Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs Director's take on LEGO The Movie

Warner Bros. is looking to move forward with their LEGO movie, and now that they have a couple of directors ready and willing to jump on board the project they are one step closer to getting this movie into full on production.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller are in final negotiations to taking on the writing and directing duties of the film. This is the same directing team that developed Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, which was a fantastic film. If you haven't seen it yet I highly suggest you check it out.

There is no word on what the plot of this film involves, but of course it will be an adventure in the Lego world mixing live action and animation. According to THR here is what the directing duo had to do to get the gig.

Lord and Miller prepared a presentation that not only had to pass muster with Warners brass but also with execs from Lego, which is extremely protective with its toys and brand and had a significant hand in the process.

After winning approval from Warners, they flew up to Bricks by the Bay, the Lego convention in Fremont, to make their pitch to Lego execs. Warners and Lego weren’t sure initially if they wanted a live-action or animated movie, and Lord and Miller went with a scenario that incorporated both.

Lord and Miller are a couple very talented guys, and I'm sure they came up with a fun way to tell a LEGO story. At the same time I kinda hope all these movies based on toys and board games fall through. It just seems like a waste. If Hollywood doesn't have the talent to make a decent video game or 1980's cartoon film adaptation then how are they going to turn a toy line into a decent movie? I'm just sayin'.

What do you all think about Lord and Miller adapting LEGO The Movie?
