Disney to Release Guillermo del Toro's Scripted DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK

It looks like Walt Disney Pictures is going to release Guillermo del Toro's Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, which is a remake of a 1973 TV movie. Del Toro co-wrote the film and also produced it. The film was directed by Troy Nixey and stars Katie Holmes, Guy Pearce, Bailee Madison and Jack Thompson

The movie is set to be released under the Miramx banner on January 21st 2011. The director of the film is a former comic book artist, and this is his first feature film, so were about to see how good of a director this guy can be.

The story is described as a horror/thriller that centers on a young girl (Madison) who is sent to live with her father (Pearce) and his girlfriend (Holmes) in the old mansion they are renovating, where she unwittingly unleashes malevolent creatures hell bent on destroying all of them.

The horror movie has a great team of talent behind it. Disney must have liked it enough to give it a rated 'R' theatrical release, so that's a good sign. I'm excited to actually see some footage from the movie. Hopefully we will get to see a trailer at comic-con this year. This should end up being a decent little horror film.
