TOP GUN Part 2 Could Actually Still Happen

A sequel to to Top Gun has been discussed a few different times over the years, but no one's really been able to crack a story that would make a sequel worth it. But according to Jerry Bruckheimer the dream of a sequel still is not dead. It's very much alive, and they're still trying to figure out how to make a sequel to the classic 1986 film.

Bruckheimer recently talked to MTV and here's what he had to say.

We tried to develop [a sequel] and we couldn't do it-- I was with my partner Don Simpson, and then Tom took it over and he tried to develop something and it never quite happened.

We were recently approached again to start talking about it but, you know, nothing yet. We kicked around some ideas because the aviation community has completely changed since we made the movie a long time ago. So we have to find a way in and how to incorporate the Maverick character into it.

I'm not sure where Tom Cruise's career is going right now and a Top Gun sequel might actually help to reboot it. It worked for Sylvester Stallone with Rambo 4 and Rocky 6. It doesn't seem like it would be hard to incorporate Maverick into a sequel, there are several different directions they could go. I think it would be cool to actually focus on our modern day air force and how it works. I also think it would be awesome if they stayed away from CGI in the sequel and filmed everything practically like they did in the original. Val Kilmer could come back as a retired deadbeat Ice Man that has seen way too many hard times, and they could bring Goose back from the dead and he could be Marverick's zombie co-pilot.

If done right Top Gun 2 could end up being a decent sequel. What do you all think of the possibility of a Top Gun sequel?
