More Details on the FRIGHT NIGHT Remake

Interested in hearing a few little details on the upcoming Fright Night remake? Because we got some for you. I'm still a little disappointed that the movie is being remade, and like many of you I loved the original film. The remake is being directed by Craig Gillespie (Lars and the real Girl), and Anton Yelchin (Star Trek) is set to star in the lead role. He plays a horror fan who suspects his neighbor, played by Colin Farrell, is a vampire.

Variety had a few little details from the script, and yes, of course it is going to be different from the original film. The remake will be set in Las Vegas, and it will feature what is described as "a more badass vampire" than what we've recently seen in the new vampire movie hollywood trend. The screen writer of the film Marti Noxon had the to say,

He’s a much more ‘Jaws’-like vampire in the Amblin tradition…

So are they going to make this vampire movie as if Steven Spielberg were going to make a vampire movie? The vampire is obviously Jaws in this movie, an unstoppable killer. And if we go back to the old school Amblin films, we know that the film we be a slow build-up to an awesomely climactic ending, which is exactly what the original film was like!

So besides the Vegas setting the story will stay pretty much the same. It follows Charlie Brewster who believes that his next door neighbor Jerry Dandridge is a vampire. His belief is strengthened when mysterious deaths of girls are reported. When Dandridge confronts Charlie in his own bedroom one night and tries to kill him, Charlie concludes that the monster must be destroyed. But since nobody believes his story he enlists the help of Peter Vincent, the vampire killer from his favorite horror TV show, who is in fact skeptical about vampires existing for real.

I guess we can at least hope the movie will be decent. I just don't think there's any way the remake will top the pure awesomeness of the original film. What do you think?
