Looks Like MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 4 Will Be Reworked

As you all know Pixar Animation director Brad Bird is currently prepping up to shoot his first live-action film, Mission: Impossible 4 for producer J.J. Abrams and Tom Cruise. Now it looks like Paramount Pictures is looking to rework the film with a lower budget because of how poorly Cruise's last film Knight And Day did at the box office. It's also being reported that there's an idea on the table to introduce a new young operative which Ethan Hunt will mentor in the story. They are obviously looking for a young bankable star to help market the film, and get people to go see it.

Here is the update from Deadline:

I hear the script that came in is very good, but the studio is still trying to figure out the budget as well as Cruise's role in light of the lackluster Knight And Day grosses. There's talk that Tom's character will mentor a young operative this time out if the pic proceeds.

I hope that Brad Bird sticks with the film even with all of these potential changes. Bird directing the film is the only reason I have any interest in seeing it. If he leaves the project there's no point. For those of your who don't know what Bird has made, he directed two of my favorite Pixar films The Incredibles and Ratatouille, as well as one of my favorite animated films of all time, The Iron Giant.

Mission: Impossible 4 is scheduled to be released on December 16th 2011.

What do you think about a new young operative being thrown into the story?
