Elizabeth Banks to Star in Disney's Live-Action TINKERBELL

Disney has cast Elizabeth Banks (40 Year Old Virgin, Zack and Miri Make a Porno) to star in their new live-action Tinkerbell film called Tink, which is a romantic comedy being produced by Adam Shankman, Jennifer Gibgot and McG. Yeah, the same McG that directed Terminator Salvation. I guess this is what you get when you can't deliver the goods on a big budget film like 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, which is what McG was previously attached to direct for Disney.

The concept for the film was developed by Banks and Max Handelman, and Matt Smith. The script for the project will be written by Elizabeth Wright Shapiro, who helped develop the idea and McG will be helping her as well. The story will play with the mischievous nature of the Tinkerbell character.

Tinkerbell is best known for her role in the Peter Pan stories, and recently has fallen victim to some awful straight to DVD animated Disney movies. I know Tinkerbell is one of Disney's popular characters, but I'm not really a big fan, and the fact that McG is involved makes the value of the movie for me go down even further. Then you have the producers Shankman and Gibgot who have produced a lot of crap as well, including such film as Cheaper by the Dozen 2, Miley Cyrus' The Last Song and the Step Up Movies.

The little girls of the world won't care though, and that's who this movie is being made for. If they can watch those Tinkbell DVD movies over and over again they can enjoy watching anything regardless of how bad it is.
