Karl Urban to Take Over Stallone's Role as the New JUDGE DREDD

BleedingCool brings word that Karl Urban (Star Trek, Pathfinder) will be offered the role of Judge Dredd in the new reboot.

There's not much more to the story than that, but they do remind us that A) the film will be in 3D and B) Judge Dredd will not remove his helmet for the entire film, effectively hiding Urban's pretty boy face for the duration. Some actors might balk at their face being covered for a film, but look at what Hugo Weaving did with V For Vendetta: he wore a Guy Fawkes mask and never once showed his face, and he gave a fantastic (and I would even say iconic) performance.

Even though I'm a huge Stallone fan, I must admit I've never seen the original Judge Dredd. That said, I can't competently comment on whether or not Urban would be a good fit for the character, so I'll just say that I like the actor and hope this project gets off the ground.
