WORLD WAR Z Film Moving Forward with Brad Pitt
Max Brook's incredibly awesome Zombie novel World War Z has been headed to the big screen for some time now, but it looks like things are really starting heat up with the film project. MTV has confirmed with the author of the book that the adaptation is moving forward with Brad Pitt attached to officially star, which is pretty freakin' cool! It was also revealed that Paramount has optioned the movie rights to two more of his books, The Zombie Survival Guide and The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks graphic novel.
Pitt's production company Plan B acquired the rights to World War Z back in 2007, and the actor has been rumored to star in the film since he acquired it, but it was made official until just recently. According to MTV "Brooks received the call confirming Pitt's attachment (and the other "Survival Guide" deals) while signing copies of the books at the Avatar booth tonight (Wednesday, July 21) during Preview Night at Comic-Con."
Brooks raction to this new was as follows:
I can't believe how cool Paramount has been to me and these projects, and how cool Plan B has been.
Paramount Pictures is currently looking to release WWZ Summer of 2012. The film chronicles a worldwide zombie outbreak through the first-hand accounts of survivors. The original screenplay was written by creator (Babylon 5) J. Michael Straczynski, and it was later rewritten by Matthew Michael Carnahan.
So get excited because World War Z is on it's way!
