MAD MAX 4 Will Indeed Be In A Newer Style Of 3D!

Move over James Cameron, Mad Max: fury Road will be filmed in 3D using a revolutionary new technology developed by director George Miller.  The film has a budget of more than $100 million and gets some kind of cool  Producer Offset rebate for being filmed in Australia.

The film has been a slow go to allow Dr. Miller to develop his own 3D cameras. He told InsideFilm this;

“We are doing 3D on Fury Road– we are shooting with real 3D cameras,”

“Seven years ago we were going to shoot in 3D but the technology in cinemas wasn’t geared for it then but I always loved 3D or stereo,”

Filming the live action Fury Road in the tough outback conditions of Broken Hill will prove to be a tough challenge for any 3D system and with the fledgling technology often breaking down despite an industry-wide rush to make more and more 3D content following the success of James Cameron's Avatar.

Dr. Miller moves forward on his new technolgy despite these obsticles and was also recently granted the Visual Effects Society's honorary member status despite being a non-US citezen.

To add to this cool story, Peter Jackson's WETA Workshop has confirmed that it will do work on Fury Road's conceptual design, specialty make-up FX, costume and dummies while The Australian has reported that the film's shoot has been delayed until early next year.

Dr. Miller is also currently working on another 3D feature – Happy Feet 2, which will be released in 2011.
