The good word is that Working Title Films is teaming up with director Joe Wright to indeed develop a live-action version of Christian Anderson's fairytale The Little Mermaid. The script has been penned by Abi Morgan and this will be the first English-language live-action adaptation of this tale.

The Little Mermaid tells the classic tale of a young mermaid who gives up her life in the sea to love a human prince.

Andersen's fairytale was first published in 1837 and has been adapted many times for stage and screen.
