Will Chris Columbus Direct New SUPERMAN Movie For Warner Bros?
As you know Warner Bros. needs to get a new Superman movie into production soon. The studio is already looking to release the film in December of 2012. Christopher Nolan has been brought in to work on the film as a producer to help guide the next Superman into a glorious movie.
This next Superman film needs a fantastically talented director to pull off a great film, and according to the folks over at Superman homepage that director could be... Chris Columbus? Yeah, not the director I was hoping for. Columbus is the same guy that directed the first two Harry Potter films as well as Percy Jackson.
I hope this news isn't true, but according to an inside studio source an "offer has been sent out to Chris Columbus to direct the 3D Superman reboot for December 2012" Apparently he is considered "the right fit" for the Man of Steel by those within the WB and Legendary Pictures.
The source also reveals that the screenwriter of the film David Goyer "really wanted to direct but nobody from either studio think he's good in that arena. He's great at coming up with story and ideas, like George Lucas. It's his execution where he's weak which is why people like Chris and Jonathan Nolan and Guillermo Del Toro have had the best results with his scripts."
I'm not a big fan of Columbus' recent film work so I really hope that he doesn't end up directing the next installment of Superman. I just don't think he's got what it takes to make an epic Superman film.
What do you all think?
