Christoph Waltz to Play the Villain in SPIDER-MAN 3D?

There's a rumor floating around out in cyberspace that Christoph Waltz, who played The Jew Hunter in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds, may end up playing a Spider hunter in Marc Webb's upcoming 3D reboot of Spider-Man. According to Production weekly Sony Pictures is interested in Waltz taking a role in the film, and if rumors are true, he might be taking on the role of the Lizard.

Christoph Waltz definitely makes for a great villain, and I think it would be very interesting to see him take on a great villainous role in Spider-Man. It seems like something he would want to be a part of, after all, he took on a pretty cheesy looking villainous role in Seth Rogan's The Green Hornet. He's also playing a villain in Francis Lawrence’s Water for Elephants, and Paul W.S. Anderson’s The Three Musketeers

Michael Fassbender who also co-starred in Inglourious Basterds was up for the role of the villain in this Spider-Man reboot before taking on the role of Magneto in Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class. Waltz is a great actor that could take on any role that is offered to him, I'm surprised by the roles he's taken since he won Best Supporting Actor for his role in Tarantino's film. It seems like he's typecast himself. If he ends up taking on the role of the villain in Spider-Man I hope it ends up being a great character worthy of his talent.

There is still no solid confirmation of Waltz being involved with Spider-Man or who the official villain is, but it will be cool to see how all this plays out. Just because Sony is interested in him doesn't mean he's going to take the part.

What do you all think of the possibility of Waltz taking on the role of the Villain in Spider-Man?
