DreamWorks Animation Developing new Film called IMAGINARY ENEMIES

DreamWorks has put a new film project into development called Imaginary Enemies. The studio has hired married screenwriters Joe Syracuse and Lisa Addario (Surfs Up) to write the script for the film which is being developed by Mike Mitchell (Shrek Forever After, Kung Fu Panda) although he's not officially attached to direct yet.

According to THR the concept of the "imaginary friend trope had been played out in so many ways already that the truly original approach would be the concept of the imaginary enemy. So the new project will be told from the point of view of the imaginary friends who had long been used as scapegoats by unscrupulous children looking for someone else to blame for their misdeeds. Eventually fed up, those imaginary people come looking for some payback when the kids are grown up."

This sounds like a fun concept. I would hate it if my imaginary friends came back came back to get revenge on me for what I blamed them for as a kid! It wasn't me that started that fire! It was my imaginary friend Billy! Blame Billy!

The studio actually may end up developing the film as a animated/live-action movie hybrid, which they've never done before. According to the trade, they are enthusiastic about the idea, and discussions are taking place that would represent the split worlds of the imaginary and the real.

What do you all think of the Imaginary Enemies movie concept?
