Rhino Records Releasing THE STATE's Lost Comedy Record

If you're of the same generation as I am, odds are you tuned into MTV a time or two during the mid-90s. Should that be the case then you likely have fond memories of the channel's sketch comedy show The State, the program that introduced the world to the likes of Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter, and Thomas Lennon. The series ran for three seasons and influenced lots of comedic trends still present today.

For quite some time now, cast members of The State have refered to a "lost" album they recorded in 1996 entitled Comedy for Gracious Living. Supposedly, the suits and Warner Bros. decided to shelve it after they heard the final product. Well, friends, I'm happy to report we shall soon have legal access to the record.

Rhino Records will give Comedy for Gracious Living a proper release on September 14. You may currently stream samples of all 25 of the record's tracks on their website. Buy a copy and keep your fingers crossed that it sells well enough to inspire a reunion.
