While promoting Piranha 3D on the Lopez Tonight Show, Ving Rhames slipped that he was fixing to start shooting Mission Impossible 4 reprising his role as Luther. He's been in all three movies so it's fitting for him to return for the fourth installment along with Mr. "Paycut" Cruise.

Rhames also told a bit of news that his character was supposed to be killed of within the first six minutes in the first movie along with Emilio Estevez and the rest of the original team and he talked DePalma into letting him live
