Dwayne Johnson set to Star in JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH 2

Dwayne Johnson has been cast in the the lead role in the upcoming 3D action adventure sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth. Johnson will pretty much be replacing Brendan Fraser as the adult character in the movie. It was also revealed that the title of the film will be Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.

For a moment there I thought Johnson would stay away from these types of films and focus more on making some hard core action movies... I guess I was wrong.

Johnson is set to play the boyfriend of Josh Hutcherson's mom, who Hutcherson is forced to bring on a trip to a mythical and monstrous island to find his missing grandfather. The script is loosely based on Jules Verne's The Mysterious Island. But I seriously doubt it will do Verne's story any justice.

The trade reports that three other characters will be introduced in the movie and cast during the next few weeks. Production is eyeing a late October start in North Carolina and Hawaii.

The film will be directed by Brad Peyton.

What do you all think about Johnson starring in yet another cheesy kids action adventure film?
