J.J. Abrams ALCATRAZ TV Project ends up at FOX

TV FoxJ.J. Abrams by Joey Paur

Hey gang! Just a real quick update on that Alcatraz TV series that J.J. Abrams is producing. The project has ended up at FOX. I figured it would end up there or at ABC.

There is still very little known about the project other than the fact that is will based at the famous Alcatraz prison, and it will be about "mysteries, secrets and the most infamous prison of all time: Alcatraz."

I'm looking forward to seeing what Abrams has planned for this thing!

As Previously reported:

Alcatraz is one of the most famous prisons in the world that housed some of histories most famous criminals. I love the history behind the prison, and whenever I'm in San Francisco I have to go on the tour. There is just something about that world that fascinates me. I always felt they could build a great TV series based on the prison, and now it looks like it's going to happen!

A spec script for the new series was written by Lost writer/producer Elizabeth Sarnoff. This spec is currently being shopped around Hollywood for a network. There's very little known about the project other than the title and setting. You know how Abrams likes to keep his projects secret. But I imagine it will be an incredible series. I hope the story ends up being a period setting, and not set in the modern day. I don't think you can go wrong on something like this, especially with the Abrams bringing it to life.

As of right now Bad Robot produces Fox's Fringe and will be launching Undercovers for NBC in the fall. The production company is also developing around a dozen theatrical projects which includes the upcoming Super 8 and a sequel to 2009's Star Trek.
